Masala Production

A group of five women in the village of Panga got together after all of them lost their jobs and houses in the earthquake, They formed a small cooperative with the plan to start producing spices (masala) for the local markets in Kathmandu valley. However, they did not have funds to buy equipment, and no bank would provide them with any loan.

Jhigu Palaa purchased a grinding machine for this group of women. With this donation, these women can start their small cooperative and generate income to support all their families. It is with small donations like this that we can help people out of poverty.

The spice project is jointly sponsored by Jhigu Palaa and our sister organization Mitra Path. Mitra Path will support the construction of a workshop for the group to set up their equipment, and for training of the group members.

Thank you to all donors and supporters of Jhigu Palaa for making this possible!
