True economic empowerment does not come from imposing top-down solutions from the outside. At the Jhigu Palaa Society, we believe in a different approach: We listen to local women leaders. Every business initiative we support is chosen, managed, and sustained by female entrepreneurs within their own grassroots communities in Nepal. Our role in Canada is simply to provide the foundational resources, machinery, and tools they need to lift themselves up.
Because we operate as a 100% volunteer-run organization, your funding goes straight into building local self-reliance. When you drop off recycling, book a portrait shoot, or hire our dancers, you are actively laying the groundwork for sustainable livelihoods, financial independence, and community resilience.

Pabitra Tamang from Belkotgadhi needed tools to launch a tailoring business and support her family. In partnership with the Inner Wheel Club of Balaju, Jhigu Palaa funded new sewing machines for Pabitra and four other local women, providing immediate, direct tools for long-term independence.
Following the 2015 earthquake, a group of five women in Panga village lost both their homes and livelihoods. They formed a cooperative to produce traditional spices for the Kathmandu Valley markets but lacked the funds to buy machinery, and banks refused to grant them loans.
By donating a heavy-duty grinding machine and funding a local production workshop, we provided the essential tools they needed to kickstart their enterprise, lift their families out of poverty, and build a thriving local business.
When the 2015 earthquake forced local artisans to spend their life savings on temporary shelter, many traditional weaving looms fell silent. We provide targeted grassroots micro-grants for raw materials and tools, allowing women to revive their businesses and reclaim financial independence.
