At the Jhigu Palaa Society, we believe that a small step can start a massive journey. “Jhigu Palaa” means “Our Steps” in the Newari language. We don't believe in dictating what grassroots communities in Nepal need. We believe in funding the local women leaders and educators who are already making change happen.
Because our entire Canadian team is 100% powered by passionate volunteers, no one draws a salary, and we pay zero corporate rent. Outside of mandatory annual BC society registration fees and basic bank transactional charges, every single dollar we raise goes straight to supporting underprivileged women and low-income families. As of the end of 2025 we have funded over $21,000 for supporting low income families.
When you drop off your bottles, book a Vancouver photo session, hire our traditional dance troupe, or make a spontaneous gift, your funds go straight to where it matters most. Your support buys sewing equipment for women’s cooperatives, helps women establish small shops and tea stalls, and builds long-term economic independence.
In September 2026, the Jhigu Palaa Society has donated 110,000 Nepali Rupees to our partner organization, Inner Wheel Club of Balaju, in Nepal. This direct support will fund start up micro capital including sewing machines and incense making equipment for eight women from across Nepal launching small businesses to generate sustainable income for their families.
Providing tailoring equipment, materials, and hands-on skill workshops to help women in Nepal launch home-based micro-enterprises and gain financial independence.
Partnering with local women to fund small neighborhood shops and tea stalls, creating sustainable daily income streams for low-income families.
Directing 100% of our funding to community-identified projects led by local women educators and advocates who know their community's needs best.
